ULTRASOUND

Grossman Imaging Centers will utilize the newest technology for diagnostic screening. Our experienced and highly skilled sonographers will perform your Ultrasound Wellness Screening and a board-certified Physician Radiologist will review all results prior to returning them to you or your physician.

Our goal is to assist you in the early detection of possible life threatening health problems and to work in partnership with you and your doctor to seek any necessary treatment. Our Ultrasound Wellness Screening offers a convenient, risk-free, painless and affordable way for men and women to assist in monitoring their health, without the use of radiation. You will be provided with a report to take to your physician who can order any additional testing and evaluate any necessary treatment.

Your Ultrasound Wellness Screening will include the carotid arteries, complete abdomen and aorta, and pelvis for women. Pelvic ultrasound for women will include transvaginal ultrasound for visualization of the ovaries and uterus. Your Ultrasound Wellness Screening will take approximately one hour and arrival time is 30 minutes prior to your appointment. The cost for this inexpensive screening is only $295.00 payable at the time of your visit. At the present time, insurance does not cover the cost of these elective screening services.

Without using X-rays, painless ultrasound screenings can identify conditions that might lead to stroke and other ailments in their earlier stages. With early detection, our goal is to enhance the patients' chance for living a long healthy, and productive life.

Ultrasound Wellness Screening Includes

1 Carotid Artery Screening Ultrasound scan of the carotid arteries will screen for the buildup of atherosclerosis plaque, the leading cause of strokes.  Plaque buildup (also known as atherosclerosis) is an abnormal collection of calcium and cholesterol on the artery walls. This buildup can restrict blood flow to the brain or break off and become lodged in a blood vessel - causing a stroke.

2 Complete Abdomen Screening Abdominal ultrasound scans screen the liver, kidneys, pancreas, and gall bladder for abnormalities. The abdominal aorta is screened for possible abdominal aortic aneurysm.  Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) is a "ballooning" of the wall in the abdominal aorta. Like strokes, AAAs are most often caused by atherosclerosis (plaque buildup). The majority of people with AAAs have no symptoms. If an AAA ruptures, the mortality rate is as high as 80 percent.

3 Pelvis Ultrasound for women.  A pelvic scan can give us an assessment of the uterus and ovaries in women.

Based on your personal medical history, your doctor may recommend a more extensive CT full body scan for you. Ask your doctor to order the appropriate screening from Grossman Imaging Centers today.
